About the Jazz Company Big Band.
Founded by Gabriele Comeglio in the early nineties from the ashes of the prestigious RAI big band, the staff orchestra from RAI (the Italian public broadcasting company) and alongside the best studio and jazz musicians from the Milan area.
The big band has backed up actor/singer Massimo Lopez (one of Italy’s foremost TV personalities) in a five year long tour of the show “Ciao Frankie” largely based on Frank Sinatra’s repertoire , and also accompanies award winning singer/D.J Nick the Nightfly, who has recently gained the top of the Italian chart with the album “The Devil”, a mixture of jazz standards and pop songs orchestrated for the big band by Comeglio himself .
The orchestra has also played with a number of world class jazz soloists and singers: Bob Mintzer (European premiere of the music from the Grammy-winning album “Homage to Count Basie”), Randy Brecker, Phil Woods (under the name “Jazz Class Orchestra”), Charlie Mariano, Slide Hampton, Lee Konitz, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Patti Austin.
