A few months ago Quei Due had a fantastic time collaborating with the Italian Department of the University of Leeds.
We were asked by Dr. Alessio Baldini to create a programme of live Italian music to celebrate the end of the academic year in true Italian style.
With the addition of the unique atmosphere of Headingley’ s very own Cafe Lento, we had a night of wine, laughter and great Italian songs.
We were so inspired by the warm response we got from the students and tutors that we decided to created a whole series of Italian themed concerts.
Our repertoire now includes a special overview on the “Festival di Sanremo”, including the most iconic songs and Italian pop stars from the 1950s to the present time.
We also drew from the great singer-songwriters with a repertoire designed to take the audience on a journey through the different regions and social issues of Italy in the 1970s.
Special attention has been devoted to the life and music of Fabrizio De Andre’ and a portrait of Genova through his songs.
We are very excited about this new repertoire, and we can’t wait to test it on an audience.
